Abuse & Sexual Abuse Recovery

Abuse & Sexual Abuse Recovery Therapy, Online in Illinois

Healing from abuse takes safety, patience, and a therapist who will never rush you. I offer a survivor-paced, deeply respectful space to recover from abuse and sexual abuse — at your pace, with your consent at every step.

Who this is for

  • You are a survivor of abuse, sexual abuse, or childhood maltreatment
  • You struggle with shame, trust, or feeling safe in relationships
  • You are ready to heal but want to feel in control of the process
  • You would value a faith-sensitive, compassionate approach

Safety first, always

Nothing happens here without your readiness and consent. We begin by building safety and stability, and you decide what to explore and when. Healing is possible, and it does not require re-living every detail.

Understanding the effects of abuse

  • Shame, self-blame, and difficulty trusting
  • Hypervigilance, anxiety, and emotional numbing
  • Struggles with intimacy and healthy boundaries
  • The link between past abuse and present coping patterns

Faith, forgiveness, and self-compassion

For clients who wish, we can explore questions of faith, forgiveness, and self-worth gently and without pressure — never in a way that minimizes what happened to you or rushes your healing.

Common questions

I have never told anyone. Is that okay?

Completely. Many survivors carry their story silently for years. You can share as much or as little as feels right, and we go at your pace.

Are you a mandated reporter?

Yes, like all licensed clinicians I have certain legal reporting obligations, which is indicated in the intake forms.

Will exploring faith feel pushy?

No. Faith is offered as a resource only if you want it. Your comfort and autonomy always come first.

Take the first step, when you’re ready

Reaching out can feel like a big step. There’s no pressure here — just a compassionate conversation about whether this is the right fit for you.
